Video game on Warsaw Uprising in the pipeline
Development of Uprising 44 (Polish subtitle: Warsaw Uprising), the first video game to focus on one of the most dramatic moments in the whole history of Poland is underway.
Polish game developer DMD Enterprise has for some time been working on a title where the Warsaw Uprising is at the core historical background. Uprising 44 will constitute a mixture of a classic realt time strategy with third person perspective exploration of the capital city ravaged by war through the eyes of one of insurgents.
Particular emphasis will be put on the plot of the game as well as faithful recreation of Warsaw at the time. Producers remark, however, that they do not intend to morally assess the uprising itself because they only want to realistically render the tension of struggles of insurgents and the invader.
Uprising 44 is an innovative attempt at utilizing Polish historical realities for a game that is not a niche production in purpose. Cenega, a well-known company in Polandwill publish the game, which will be tentatively released on PC/iMac and the Xbox 360 console in Q2 2012.
